5 Gallons6.0 lbs. Light malt extract
1lb. Crystal malt 20L
1lb. Crystal malt 40L
4 oz. Munich malt
1.0 oz. Northern Brewer hops (bittering)
1.0 oz. Hallertauer hops (flavor)
1.0 oz. Hallertauer hops (aroma)
2 pkts. Lager Yeast
Procedure: Add crushed grains to 2 gallons of water and bring to a boil. Strain out grains and add the malt extract. Bring to a boil and add bittering hops. Boil for 45 minutes then add flavor hops and boil for a further 15 minutes. Turn off the heat, add aroma hops and allow to stand for 30 minutes. Strain and sparge to 5 gallons. Pitch yeast below 70° F and ferment in a cool, dark place. Lagering at 45° F is recommended, and is, needless to say, the most difficult part of the process for most of us. Bottle and prime as usual.
